Our next workshop for Builders, Owner Builders, Architects and Building Designers will be on 20 & 21 May in the Hunter Valley, NSW. It will be hosted at the School of Architecture and Built Environment at Newcastle University’s Main Campus and it will cover all aspects of working with hemp lime in the building industry.
The main focus of the workshops will be on new residential construction and retrofitting to improve energy efficiency or acoustics. However use in commercial construction and restoration work (where the material excels because of its capacity to manage moisture well) will also be covered briefly and we’ll also cover the critical design details.
From our perspective, attending one of our workshops is the beginning of an ongoing client relationship and we provide advice as needed to ensure successful projects. AHMC has supplied materials and worked with hemp builders and designers in multiple Australian climate zones and the workshops share our experience from that.
The workshops are hands on because learning to mix the Hemp lime material well is critical, as is having an understanding of the options for formwork, framing and finishing. You’ll also learn the techniques for installing, to ensure that the outcome is good thermal and acoustic performance combined with a beautiful finish, as well as understand the curing process.
